TGuard Reviews and Testimonials
For more than 20 years, MED et al, Inc. has been working closely with pediatric dentists and pediatricians to develop an effective device to stop thumb and finger sucking. Over that time, we’ve created a product that is endorsed not only by parents, but by dentists as well. We hope that these unsolicited reviews will illustrate this fact.

Tguard worked wonderfully for us. Our three year old kept on sucking on her pointer and middle finger since she was a new born. We tried to wean her gently, by talking about it since she turned two. She understood, but kept doing it in her sleep. We switched to bitter nail varnish. Nothing. By the time she turned three, we decided to call the big guns. We ordered from the start two tguards, although she only used one hand, but we feared she will turn to the other one. She tried sucking on her thumb, we combined the tguards with gloves. Worked like a charm. We kept doing this everynight and nap for about three months. Then we started keeping them just at night and eventually removed them altogether. Now she sleeps without the need to put her hands in her mouth. The first weeks were unpleasant; she slept fussy, she was upset, no one slept. But eventually she managed. My only complaint is although i double checked, i had the unpleasant surprise to find out there were additional taxes for the eu. Usually, when i order from the us, i am either announced at the check out that there will be additional taxes or that there might be. Now, it seemed that if i choose the most expensive delivery, i am all good. I wished i would have been warned about this. You guys should find a friendlier provider for the eu, without all the hussle regarding taxes and forms. We are dentists and would gladly recommend them to out patients, but not everybody is desperate enough to spend approximately 250 euros on this.

The T-Guard worked great for my 4-year old! While he showed improvements after a few weeks, we kept going for the suggested 30 days and followed the sticker chart (with a reward at the end). Now we recommend it to everyone!

We followed the protocol perfectly with my 4 year old daughter, and she willingly wore it every night, and excitedly put on a sticker every morning, counting down the days to her prize. It’s been a couple months now since we finished, and no more finger sucking! The only downside is the cost (I’m in Canada, and it cost quite a bit after the currency exchange and shipping), but still definitely worth it!

I tried everything, then I used the finger guard. It worked! My little girl (3 years old) didn’t mind wearing it. And loved the star chart it came with. After two months the habit has been broken. Thank you, definitely recommend.

Broke my daughter’s finger sucking habit in a month! One thing that definitely helped us was that she was excited to use her TGuard and ready to break her habit to be a big girl. When we were done with daytime treatment she would sometimes ask for her TGuard at night when she felt like she needed it. We’re so proud of how well she did!

It took a couple weeks, but our 6 year old who was a voracious comfort finger-sucker no longer sucks! He did have to be reminded not to chew on the guard, though.

I tried everything else. This worked!! Dentist said we needed to kick the habit by 3.5 yrs and this did it. My daughter got used to it quickly, liked choosing colors, wore it for a month and now we’re done with the finger sucking, still, even three months later.

I got this for my 2yrs old baby girl who started sucking her index finger out of the blue. Tried several things I found on the internet but nothing was working till I stumbled on Tguard. She was very upset initially but we persisted, day and night and even when she went to birthday parties and to nursery as well. We found that after her initial resistance, she settled into it alright. I noticed she struggled to bend/flex her fingers while wearing the Tguard, thus making her grip loose and she was dropping things or unable to hold it. I was worried this would be a problem given she was still ‘growing’ and we needed to stick to routine for 2 months as recommended on the pack. After about 4 weeks though, she’d figured out how to forcefully remove her finger from the guard even while strapped and clipped correctly. We then noticed that even though she was doing this, she was not sucking her finger anymore. We took the risk and removed the guard completely as we were worried she would hurt herself. It’s been 3 months since and looks like we broke the habit. Really grateful I stumbled on the Tguard cause it looks like it has really worked.

This product really does work. My 2 year old sucked her fingers since she was a baby and her teeth were coming in and it was affecting its shape with an open bite. The dentist recommended we stop the habit ASAP! Initially she was fussy because she could not self soothe but after 2 weeks she no longer cared for her fingers but we left it on for the recommended time of 6 weeks and now that habit is long gone and she no longer has an open bite! She is now 2.5 and the bite is closed and habit is gone.

It didn’t work the first time, but we got a new one about 18 months later, at my child’s request and it helped him finally kick the habit.

It did not work for us. My daughter (5-6) chewed through 2. It was successful in reducing finger sucking, but as soon as we stopped using it, the habit returned. We found this product on our own Internet search, but my daughter was 5. I took her to 2 dentists and asked for help. I wish we’d tried this at age 3. Perhaps it would have been more successful.

Did not break the habit for us. No matter how tight we made it, our 4yo squeezed it off at night to suck her fingers. We tried multiple ties at the same time, and tightened it so much it left marks on her wrist. That’s when we gave up.

We tried everything for 1.5 years and tried the TGuard twice. Once my daughter was ready to try the second time it completely worked! Stick thorough the first week and you’ll get there!

Within a 2 weeks my 1 year old finger sucking habit was broken! It took some teamwork to get the device on but it’s worth the effort.

Worked very quickly on my daughter for daytime sucking. However, 2+ years later she still hasnt broken the overnight sucking habit. We’ve spent a lot of money on bracelets, replacement guards, etc. About to buy a whole bunch of new bracelets for her to wear for half a year and see how it goes…

Best $50 I’ve spent. I wish I would have found this for my 6 year old son sooner.
My son seems to have some sensory preferences so I wasn’t sure if this device would work for him. He put it right on and wore it a bit during the day but mostly overnight and has now completely kicked his finger sucking habit, a month later. I feel so lucky to have found a non invasive and non toxic way to help him break his habit. I highly recommend this product. -

It did not work for my daughter. She just switched hands. If it wasn’t so expensive I would order another one but the time it gets up to Canada it’s over $100

Life saver! My daughter is three and loved picking her band colours daily.
After 6 years battling thumb sucking, we tried T guard and 50 days later – No More!. It worked amazingly. Should have used earlier!
Worked getting our 3 year old to stop sucking his thumb. FYI, it does require the recommended weeks of wear, but it works. It was easy to clean in most cases.
This product was amazing for us. Our youngest sucked his thumb almost anytime he wasn’t busy doing something with his hands. At 3.5 yrs old this habit wasn’t slowing down. I had tried gloves taped to his pajamas (he figured out how to rip that off) and the nail polish (didn’t bother him after a few days). I needed something that stayed on and wouldn’t affect his mobility. This was soft, movable and deterred him. He got to pick the band color each day when I cleaned it. I kept it on 1.5-2 months roughly just to be safe and make sure he was over the habit. Those last few weeks, I’d keep it off for a few hours each day as a test. I’m happy to say he hasn’t sucked his thumb since the start. It has been 5 months. He doesn’t make the motion of bringing his hand to his face anymore. He has kicked the habit. I’m thankful for the T guard and recommend it to everyone!
We bought one for each hand after reading reviews. After two months of overnight wearing, our daughter stopped sucking her thumb. We saw I drastically reduce her daytime thumb sucking just a week or two in. Really happy with our results!!
Chewed through it in a week. No good for special needs.
Hi David,
Thanks for your feedback. Please reach out to us, we do offer free replacements for cases like this, and we may have devices made out of a stiffer material which may help. We would love to see your success!
I can say that the T guard definitely broke the habit! My daughter liked choosing a bracelet each night. We didn’t do a reward system beyond “hey, let’s celebrate another day of no thumb sucking with a sticker!” It did take two tries. She quit completely and then when we welcomed a second baby, she regressed. Second time around was faster and she seemed ready. We did end up needing a second thumb guard because she switched hands, sucking both thumbs. All said, nail polish didn’t work and this was an easy, shame free method! Very happy with the results.
My 2 year old used to suck both her thumbs. I bought 2 thumb guards for her and used them regularly for 1 month. She doesn’t suck her thumb now. But I am still using them without the band during the night so that her habit won’t come back. Overall I am very satisfied and would 100% recommend for kids who suck their thumb to stop the habit.
After two years of reminding our daughter to quit sucking her thumb, she was finally prepared and engaged at 5 years old to quit. She accepted the TGuard AeroThumb device and it definitely gave the added help she needed to quit the thumb-sucking habit within 3 weeks. The supplied stickers and chart were fun too. I think it helped that a fellow classmate was using a similar device. But, most importantly, she was ready and wanted to quit.
Worked for 2 weeks, now my daughter just pulls her thumb out of the guard. I gave tried every way to tighten it but nothing works. Total waste of time and money – if you child is persistent they will figure it out.
After trying other products and techniques, T guard is the only product that worked for us.
