Description

New and recommended! We are glad to present the newest version of our highly successful thumb sucking treatment kit: AeroThumb®! Based on the same principles as our TGuard Classic, AeroThumb’s improved design offers an ergonomic fit that will fit on your child’s hand like a glove, helping you to stop the thumb sucking habit in a comfortable and effective way. Ventilating holes ensure cool air flow, which allows the device to be worn without any worry of condensation build up. More adjustment resolution means you can get a tighter, more precise fit.

In short, our new design is more comfortable, more ergonomic, and is far more effective than our 20 year old classic design.

If you are looking for a guaranteed way to stop thumb sucking in 4 weeks or less, without causing pain or discomfort, then look no further. Most parents see results after only ONE week of using AeroThumb, making it one of the most recommended solutions to break the thumb sucking habit.

Kit Contents

Each treatment kit contains everything you need to stop the thumb sucking habit for one hand, within 30 days.

  • 1 Ambidextrous AeroThumb™ appliance (can be worn on either hand)
  • 30 bracelets: fun to wear, and multi-colored, so children can choose a new color every day!
  • 1 Instalock – makes the fitting process as easy as possible!
  • One set of instructions
  • Reward chart + stickers

Please note: Many children will switch from one thumb, to the other, after putting on the TGuard. For that reason, we recommend purchasing two treatment kits, one for each hand.

Sizing Chart

Sizing can be a tricky matter and it’s very important to get the right size in order to have a successful treatment. We recommend the table below for most children.

Weight Under 40 lbs Between 40 and 70 lbs More than 70 lbs
Recommended Size Small Medium Large

Typically, a child under 4 will choose small, a child ages 5-6 medium, and a child above 7 will choose large. However, the weight chart is the most accurate way to gauge sizing, and we recommend purchasing based off a child’s weight, rather than their age.

If your child is very close to the cut-off between sizes, then go with a smaller size if the child is taller, or a larger size if the child is shorter. The reason for that is because the only important parameter in sizing is the relation between the thumb width and the diameter of the tube. Taller children tend to have more narrow thumbs and fingers, so they should go down a size, while shorter children tend to have wider thumbs, meaning they should go up a size. The length of the thumb plays no role in sizing.

Please know that children under 3 are more likely to switch from thumb to finger sucking, or vice-versa, due to their habit not being fully matured. If you see that the child switches from thumb to finger sucking, please contact us.

  1. I AM IMPRESSED! My almost three year old has been sucking her thumb to fall asleep since she was a baby. Recent half a year she has started to do it more often when not sleeping, on the car especially. The dentist had been telling us to help her stop the habit and things were only getting worse with younger kids joining her class who suck their thumb all the time, she started to do that during the day at school too. I didnt want to use the bitter nail polish but was hesitant with the T guard because of the price. But I’m so glad I did! About a week beforehand, We told her we got a “glove” to help her stop her thumb sucking since she’s a big girl now. Then one weekend, we started. She was first curious and willingly put it on. But she wanted it off soon after. She didn’t even try to suck her thumb with the guard on or chew it. She just whined wanting to take it off. We told her we’d take it off during shower, telling her we understand it’s new and might feel weird, and that it’ can be hard to adjust to new things at first, but she can do hard things. The first several nights, not gonna lie, was really hard. She would fall asleep ok but cry so bad after wake-up in the middle of the night and not falling back asleep quickly as she usually had been able to. It got better but by bit after the first 5 nights, and after over a week, her sleep pattern went back to normal. She stopped sucking her thumb in the day almost right away after using it, and after a bit over 2 weeks, per her request, we took it off. She didn’t need it any more. We agreed if she started again we’d put it back on but she hasn’t yet, it’s been 3 days now. I have noticed her sleep to improve too since she doesn’t rely on sucking her thumb to fall asleep. She also loves the sticker routine every day. We don’t do reward or sticker charts at home, we just tell her it’s our way to count the days of her not sucking her thumb. Even though she’s not using the guard any more, we’ll continue till all the stars are gone and celebrate her graduation from the habit.

  2. It doesn’t work for my child. You can’t put on his tumb more than 3 days because it makes him hurt. It doesn’t gave me solution.

    • Hi Ephrem,
Please reach out to us for troubleshooting. In most cases, a smaller size or a readjustment will solve the problem.
Making the straps tighter is usually not the solution.
      Kind regards,

  3. My 3 yr old daughter sucked both thumbs from birth. We tried the yucky nail polish before trying tgaurd. That was no fun though because it didn’t dry quickly and I worried she would taste it when eating. We decided to begin using tgaurd around the holiday season. We pretended that some Christmas elves dropped off the tgaurds for her and that they were going to encourage her to wear them all the time except when bathing by bringing a tiny surprise each morning that she continued to wear the guards. We made sure to tell her that the “elves” knew she was a big girl and was ready for the challenge! It worked beautifully! My advice is to stay consistent for your child. Place the bracelets on every day/night for the entire duration of time. We added the sticker map to her bedtime routine and she grew to really enjoy adding a star to the map each night. The gifts were small too. Some days it was simply a fruit that she had never tried before or a chapstick or socks. We tried to gift things that she actually needed and not just junk that would get thrown away after a single use. Yes, the guards are expensive but it worked and has saved me from constantly harping on her to take her fingers out of her mouth and quite possibly money for braces later down the road.

  4. Yes. It absolutely did in 6 weeks. Worth every penny.

  5. Amazing buy now!

  6. My kid bit it so severely I had to buy another. Hopefully it’s not toxic?! The bands are ridiculously expensive and not enough are included so I had to buy more- despite the already high price tag of the t-guard. But you guys are one of the only ones on the market.

    • Hi Elyse,

Our bands are tested to the rigorous requirements that our product demands. Most treatments take less than 30 days, so if your treatment extends far beyond that, we encourage you to reach out to us for guidance. We are here to help!
      Kind regards,

  7. Our 6 year old couldn’t stop sucking her thumbs. The skin on her thumbs showed wear, her mouth structure was changing. I was ready for a dental implant but found T Guard first. We bought one for each thumb. IT WORKED. She never relapsed. She enjoyed picking out the colored bands. After 15 days she started happily putting them on herself. I only wish we had found TGuard sooner. I felt helpless for a while just not knowing what to do. I’m saving our tea gardens to pass along to someone else who might need them because they are very valuable 🙂

  8. In 2 weeks time, our 1 year old had kicked her habit. The device worked as promised, and didn’t make our baby uncomfortable. I would recommend for anyone trying to kick the habit.

  9. It worked to break the thumb sucking habit for my daughter. The only thing I wish was that it was more affordable. I’d recommend if you really want to break the thumb sucking habit.

  10. My daughter gave up her pacifier and started sucking her thumb at 4 months old to self soothe at night/naps. It had intensified to her doing it at any downtime such as car rides, watching tv etc. as well. We tried a sticker chart, reminders, encouragement, and yucky tasting gel to help her stop, but nothing worked. She would suck either thumb so I ordered two guards, size small worked perfectly for her (3 1/2 years old and 35 lbs.) The first two weeks were the hardest but soon wearing the guards became routine. Her dexterity with the guards on was fantastic and she could still do everything as normal such as drawing/coloring, holding utensils to eat, etc. Picking out the colored bands each night and using the sticker chart were great motivators. We did small prizes during the treatment and a big prize at the end. She wore the guards 24/7 (off at bath time) for 30 days and then just at night for another 2 weeks. She just turned 4 and has had no regression! She is more engaged in activities and her front teeth started moving back to their normal position during the treatment period. I am SO thankful for this product. Sucking is such a strong habit and having the guards as a barrier was just what she needed to help her quit. I highly recommend this to any parent wanting to help their child overcome this habit. Follow the treatment plan and don’t give up. It is a hard process but 100% worth it. My daughter is so happy to be free from it!
