Description

New and recommended! We are glad to present the newest version of our highly successful thumb sucking treatment kit: AeroThumb®! Based on the same principles as our TGuard® Classic, AeroThumb’s improved design offers an ergonomic fit that will fit on your child’s hand like a glove, helping you to stop the thumb sucking habit in a comfortable and effective way. Ventilating holes ensure cool air flow, which allows the device to be worn without any worry of condensation build up. More adjustment resolution means you can get a tighter, more precise fit.

In short, our new design is more comfortable, more ergonomic, and is far more effective than our 20 year old classic design.

If you are looking for a guaranteed way to stop thumb sucking in 4 weeks or less, without causing pain or discomfort, then look no further. Most parents see results after only ONE week of using AeroThumb®, making it one of the most recommended solutions to break the thumb sucking habit.

Kit Contents

Each treatment kit contains everything you need to stop the thumb sucking habit for one hand, within 30 days.

  • 1 Ambidextrous AeroThumb ® appliance (can be worn on either hand)
  • 30 bracelets: fun to wear, and multi-colored, so children can choose a new color every day!
  • 1 Instalock – makes the fitting process as easy as possible!
  • One set of instructions
  • Reward chart + stickers

Please note: Many children will switch from one thumb, to the other, after putting on the TGuard®. For that reason, we recommend purchasing two treatment kits, one for each hand.

Sizing Chart

Sizing can be a tricky matter and it’s very important to get the right size in order to have a successful treatment. We recommend the table below for most children.

Weight Under 40 lbs Between 40 and 70 lbs More than 70 lbs
Recommended Size Small Medium Large

Typically, a child under 4 will choose small, a child ages 5-6 medium, and a child above 7 will choose large. However, the weight chart is the most accurate way to gauge sizing, and we recommend purchasing based off a child’s weight, rather than their age.

If your child is very close to the cut-off between sizes, then go with a smaller size if the child is taller than the average for their age group, or a larger size if the child is shorter than average for their age group. The reason for that is because the only important parameter in sizing is the relation between the thumb width and the diameter of the tube. Taller children tend to have more narrow thumbs and fingers, so they should go down a size, while shorter children tend to have wider thumbs, meaning they should go up a size. The length of the thumb plays no role in sizing.

Please know that children under 3 are more likely to switch from thumb to finger sucking, or vice-versa, due to their habit not being fully matured. If you see that the child switches from thumb to finger sucking, please contact us.

  1. Seriously cannot recommend a product more. I have a seven year old son with autism who used thumb sucking as a self soothing method and it was beginning to really affect his speech and palate formation. We tried everything to get him to stop sucking his thumb and nothing worked. I found TGuard in a moment of desperation and am so amazed by the results. BUY THIS. It really does work!

  2. TGuard did not work for my second child who used it. He was able to manipulate his thumb out of the brace despite adjusting it. I have had success with other children using TGuard to eliminate thumb sucking in the past and I like that it is less invasive than orthodontia.

  3. Was skeptical about this because it’s pricey but it was worth it. My daughter only cried for 2 nights and then she was fine. After wearing for 40 days, she has broken the habit of thumb sucking. She’s 4.

  4. Several components broke (the red fastener broke) the slits for the wrist band tore. We ended up buying the pieces 2x and the wristbands were also expensive. Product is not durable or suited for nightly use. It was so frustrating that the pieces broke and then waiting for delivery for the new ones.

  5. Worked perfectly!! Took only 4 weeks until thumb sucking stopped. Thank you!

  6. The guard worked reasonably well but our daughter is so petite she was still able to slip her thumb out of the smallest size brace at night. That was after she turned to the other thumb and forced us to get a second brace. We are hanging onto them for when she grows a little more and (hopefully) expresses a desire to stop sucking her thumb so that we have a little more buy in.

  7. I rarely leave reviews, but I’m leaving a positive review on the TGuard in hopes it helps other parents. We used the TGuard for 30 days with my 5 year old in hopes to break the habit and it really worked for us! We tried positive reinforcement and natural oil nail polish first. The positive reinforcement helped some, but the nail polish did nothing. We were still struggling with our daughter sucking her thumb – at night or while watching TV or when we would read books. So we decided to try the TGuard at night only and if really helped! After 2 weeks she really seemed to not need her thumb anymore to help soothe her/fall asleep. We stopped using the TGuard after 4 weeks and I’m happy to say that 3 months later she still no longer sucks her thumb. We will be using for our 4 year old now and hoping for the same success!

  8. This seemed to work for the first few days when we got it but my daughter ended up chewing on the device which eventually exposed the thumb again. So didn’t really work for us. Adjusting it was also a hustle.

  9. My four year old was already able to go without the t-guard during the day within the first week of using this! I continued using it at night for the full month but she nailed it and I’m so thankful that we conquered her thumb-sucking when we did. It was easy, effective, and we looked forward to celebrating each evening with the star chart. I was very satisfied and can’t wait to share this achievement with our dentist next month!
