New and recommended! We are glad to present the newest version of our highly successful thumb sucking treatment kit: AeroThumb®! Based on the same principles as our TGuard Classic, AeroThumb’s improved design offers an ergonomic fit that will fit on your child’s hand like a glove, helping you to stop the thumb sucking habit in a comfortable and effective way. Ventilating holes ensure cool air flow, which allows the device to be worn without any worry of condensation build up. More adjustment resolution means you can get a tighter, more precise fit.

In short, our new design is more comfortable, more ergonomic, and is far more effective than our 20 year old classic design.

If you are looking for a guaranteed way to stop thumb sucking in 4 weeks or less, without causing pain or discomfort, then look no further. Most parents see results after only ONE week of using AeroThumb, making it one of the most recommended solutions to break the thumb sucking habit.

Kit Contents

Each treatment kit contains everything you need to stop the thumb sucking habit for one hand, within 30 days.

  • 1 Ambidextrous AeroThumb™ appliance (can be worn on either hand)
  • 30 bracelets: fun to wear, and multi-colored, so children can choose a new color every day!
  • 1 Instalock – makes the fitting process as easy as possible!
  • One set of instructions
  • Reward chart + stickers

Please note: Many children will switch from one thumb, to the other, after putting on the TGuard. For that reason, we recommend purchasing two treatment kits, one for each hand.

Sizing Chart

Sizing can be a tricky matter and it’s very important to get the right size in order to have a successful treatment. We recommend the table below for most children.

Weight Under 40 lbs Between 40 and 70 lbs More than 70 lbs
Recommended Size Small Medium Large

Typically, a child under 4 will choose small, a child ages 5-6 medium, and a child above 7 will choose large. However, the weight chart is the most accurate way to gauge sizing, and we recommend purchasing based off a child’s weight, rather than their age.

If your child is very close to the cut-off between sizes, then go with a smaller size if the child is taller, or a larger size if the child is shorter. The reason for that is because the only important parameter in sizing is the relation between the thumb width and the diameter of the tube. Taller children tend to have more narrow thumbs and fingers, so they should go down a size, while shorter children tend to have wider thumbs, meaning they should go up a size. The length of the thumb plays no role in sizing.

Please know that children under 3 are more likely to switch from thumb to finger sucking, or vice-versa, due to their habit not being fully matured. If you see that the child switches from thumb to finger sucking, please contact us.

  1. My daughter gave up her pacifier and started sucking her thumb at 4 months old to self soothe at night/naps. It had intensified to her doing it at any downtime such as car rides, watching tv etc. as well. We tried a sticker chart, reminders, encouragement, and yucky tasting gel to help her stop, but nothing worked. She would suck either thumb so I ordered two guards, size small worked perfectly for her (3 1/2 years old and 35 lbs.) The first two weeks were the hardest but soon wearing the guards became routine. Her dexterity with the guards on was fantastic and she could still do everything as normal such as drawing/coloring, holding utensils to eat, etc. Picking out the colored bands each night and using the sticker chart were great motivators. We did small prizes during the treatment and a big prize at the end. She wore the guards 24/7 (off at bath time) for 30 days and then just at night for another 2 weeks. She just turned 4 and has had no regression! She is more engaged in activities and her front teeth started moving back to their normal position during the treatment period. I am SO thankful for this product. Sucking is such a strong habit and having the guards as a barrier was just what she needed to help her quit. I highly recommend this to any parent wanting to help their child overcome this habit. Follow the treatment plan and don’t give up. It is a hard process but 100% worth it. My daughter is so happy to be free from it!

  2. This worked wonders! I was so worried about how to get my daughter to sucking her thumb. We tried bad tasting nail polish that didn’t taste bad at all.
She was excited to pick the colors of the bands and the sticker chart was fun and great to track our progress. I am so thankful for this product! Worth every penny!

  3. She just sucked the thumb guard as if it were her thumb.

    • Hi Benjamin,
      This happens for 2 reasons:
      1. The device is too small, and creates a seal over the thumb, rendering it useless. The child sucks over the device since the device does not break the suction as intended.
      2. The child looks like they are sucking, but are actually just stimulating the inside of their mouth. You can read more about this here:

Both issues can be addressed quite easily. Please reach out to us for help!
      Kind regards,

  4. It would have worked but my child always got out of it unfortunately 😕

  5. TGuard is the best product to break the habit. We have used it on 3 kids.

  6. Worked wonders for my daughter! She started sucking her thumb at about 2weeks old, what I thought was a phase turned into a habit. At 14months old her teeth were already starting to shift. Thats when dad and I decided on the Tguard (after trying other methods), after just 3 weeks of wearing the Tgaurd she has completely stopped the habit. She is now 19 months and still going strong.
I highly recommend! I sucked my fingers myself as a kid and I had to get braces as a result of the damage it caused.
Spend the money on Tgaurd you won’t regret it!

  7. I thought my almost 7 year old daughter would never stop sucking her thumb. She had been sucking it since she was 3 months old. We tried fabric thumb guards, but at night she would just take them off in the middle of the night. So finding the TGuard gave me hope that she would finally stop since you are unable to remove it without cutting it off. Just as we were warned, the first couple of days were rough. After a week and half of wearing the guard 24/7 she was able to only wear it at night. She continued to wear it at night for another month and half and after that she was completely free of the habit! We are so thankful to have found TGuard.

  8. Our daughter asked for a solution to stop sucking her thumb we did some research and quickly found tguard. She stopped sucking her thumb in less than 3 weeks! Definitely recommend. Two thumbs up!

  9. It was either too loose and my son was able to pull it off or it was too tight and left marks on his hand. It did not work for us.

    • Hi,
We are sorry you did not find success with our product. We encourage all customers to reach out to us in situations like this. Usually this is easily remedied with a readjustment or a different size. We’d ask you to submit a photo of the device adjusted.
If it is adjusted well, and the size is right, we can also send a custom accessory to prevent removal, which is effective in nearly 100% of cases.
      Kind regards,
      MED et al, Inc.

  10. Unfortunately he still sucks his thumb.

    • Hi,
We are sorry you did not find success with our product. We encourage all customers to reach out to us for troubleshooting. Typically, there are a few reasons why children continue to suck after treatment, such as:
      1. Inconsistent use of the device, or the child can remove it (the device needs readjusting)
      2. The child has a strong oral fixation, which can cause a relapse.
Please reach out to us, we would love the opportunity to help you.
      Kind regards,
      MED et al, Inc.
