For more than 20 years, MED et al, Inc. has been working closely with pediatric dentists and pediatricians to develop an effective device to stop thumb and finger sucking. Over that time, we’ve created a product that is endorsed not only by parents, but by dentists as well. We hope that these unsolicited reviews will illustrate this fact.

  1. Incredible product. The first couple of days were hard on our 2 1/2 year-old, but it was so worth it. Has not even tried to suck his thumb once since we took it off a few months ago. Highly suggest!!

  2. After two weeks of continuous use our daughter’s habit was broken and she hasn’t sucked her thumbs in 6 months! Highly recommend.

  3. Worked!

  4. Our little almost 3-year-old responded to this incredibly well! We prepared her for it by watching the intro video with her, and explaining how sucking her thumb wasn’t good for her anymore, so this was her, “big girl glove” to help her be done.
She was so on board, and even though she did get out of it a couple of times when we adjusted too loosely, altogether she had great buy-in. She accidentally put her thumb to her mouth once after the 30 days, quickly removed it, and she never sucked it again. It has been 3 months, and we couldn’t be happier with the results!!

  5. Cut out thumb sucking for our 4 year who was hooked on the thumb. We tried everything and this is the only thing that worked, start here instead of messing with other products.

  6. Works like a charm!

  7. We tried socks and tape etc prior but nothing had work and my son was very sad to stop sucking his thumb 😢. T guards made it a fun challenge for him, he earned stickers on the constellation and loved picking the colored bands each night. Earning even if they suck only one thumb buy two t guards one for each hand!! We loved our t guards!

  8. We are so thankful for this product. My daughter’s thumb sucking habit was increasing and it was our goal to help her stop by the time she turned 3 years old. We followed the TGuard protocol and kept it on for 30 days/nights, which was easier than we expected. After 30 days, her thumb sucking completely stopped, even when she was sleeping. We will be recommending this product to everyone we know!

  9. My 2.5 year old son would always suck on his thumb right before he would go to bed and while asleep all night. I used the thumb guard for 3 weeks straight. We had our nightly routine and after bath time, we would put the thumb guard on. The different color bands made it fun and he would choose which color band he wanted to wear each night. He didn’t give me a hard time at all during this process. I was going to have him wear the thumb guard for a whole month but he did so well for the 3 weeks and stopped sucking his thumb when I finally took it off for good. I am very pleased and hope it’s a success for all the parents out there struggling with a thumb sucking child. It’s definitely worth the try!

  10. This worked very well…we did go 6 weeks instead of the normal 30 days. My 4 year old was very proud of himself, and he is still going strong. Although the first few days he grumpy; he improved after pictures and further explanations about the futue of his teeth. He also enjoyed choosing a color to put in the device.

  11. The t-guard is amazing. My 3 year old daughter was sucking her thumb almost all day/night. It was the only way she would sleep. This reduced her thumb sucking by 75% in 3 days and 90% by 10 days. I thought she would be very upset, but she whined a little the first day and completely accepted it after. She got used to doing all her regular activities with it. Now, she no longer sucks or thumb AT ALL. I keep it on for nighttime because she doesn’t mind and I don’t want her to start again. I recommend this 10/10. It is amazing. All her teachers and our friends/ family are so impressed.

  12. Helped my 8 year old daughter finally stop thumb sucking. Never thought I’d see the day!

  1. Broke my daughter’s finger sucking habit in a month! One thing that definitely helped us was that she was excited to use her TGuard and ready to break her habit to be a big girl. When we were done with daytime treatment she would sometimes ask for her TGuard at night when she felt like she needed it. We’re so proud of how well she did!

  2. It took a couple weeks, but our 6 year old who was a voracious comfort finger-sucker no longer sucks! He did have to be reminded not to chew on the guard, though.

  3. I tried everything else. This worked!! Dentist said we needed to kick the habit by 3.5 yrs and this did it. My daughter got used to it quickly, liked choosing colors, wore it for a month and now we’re done with the finger sucking, still, even three months later.

  4. I got this for my 2yrs old baby girl who started sucking her index finger out of the blue. Tried several things I found on the internet but nothing was working till I stumbled on Tguard. She was very upset initially but we persisted, day and night and even when she went to birthday parties and to nursery as well. We found that after her initial resistance, she settled into it alright. I noticed she struggled to bend/flex her fingers while wearing the Tguard, thus making her grip loose and she was dropping things or unable to hold it. I was worried this would be a problem given she was still ‘growing’ and we needed to stick to routine for 2 months as recommended on the pack. After about 4 weeks though, she’d figured out how to forcefully remove her finger from the guard even while strapped and clipped correctly. We then noticed that even though she was doing this, she was not sucking her finger anymore. We took the risk and removed the guard completely as we were worried she would hurt herself. It’s been 3 months since and looks like we broke the habit. Really grateful I stumbled on the Tguard cause it looks like it has really worked.

  5. Website and delivery were great.

  6. This product really does work. My 2 year old sucked her fingers since she was a baby and her teeth were coming in and it was affecting its shape with an open bite. The dentist recommended we stop the habit ASAP! Initially she was fussy because she could not self soothe but after 2 weeks she no longer cared for her fingers but we left it on for the recommended time of 6 weeks and now that habit is long gone and she no longer has an open bite! She is now 2.5 and the bite is closed and habit is gone.

  7. Worked well.

  8. We tried everything for 1.5 years and tried the TGuard twice. Once my daughter was ready to try the second time it completely worked! Stick thorough the first week and you’ll get there!

  9. Within a 2 weeks my 1 year old finger sucking habit was broken! It took some teamwork to get the device on but it’s worth the effort.

  10. It eally works 98%. Thank you very much. Your tip really works. Thanks, I recommend without hesitation.👍👍😍

  11. Best $50 I’ve spent. I wish I would have found this for my 6 year old son sooner.
My son seems to have some sensory preferences so I wasn’t sure if this device would work for him. He put it right on and wore it a bit during the day but mostly overnight and has now completely kicked his finger sucking habit, a month later. I feel so lucky to have found a non invasive and non toxic way to help him break his habit. I highly recommend this product.

  12. I wish I had gotten this sooner! It worked fairly quickly, obviously wearing it is key, setting the reward for the child upon completion. I would recommend this to anyone and would recommend they get it on their child asap!

  13. My daughter sucked on her two middle fingers since she was an infant. We tried several things to try and break the habit and this was the only thing that helped! She’s 8 and has been going strong for over 3 months now. Highly recommend this product when they’re at an age they can understand and comprehend why you’re using this device.

  14. Such a great tool. My child is 9 so we waited a long time before committing to a solution, but after a tough couple days to transition it has been so smooth. I highly recommend for any parents looking for a safe and compassionate way to help break the habit.

  15. It was a very difficult process for my 6 year old, but she was self-motivated and really just needed a tool to help her end her finger sucking habit. The T-Guard was just the right tool. The first week was very rough, but we stuck it out and she was done with the habit at the end of the month. In addition to the T-Guard, we utilized some bitter-tasting nail polish, which helped particularly at night time. It was an emotionally draining process for everyone but my kid was proud of herself at the end. I would recommend this product.

  16. My child’s dentist told me about the Tguard website. My daughter had a stubborn finger sucking habit since an infant that she wanted to stop especially since it was affecting her permanent teeth cosmetically. The finger guard worked effectively, took a week to get use to and in about a month she kicked the habit. I highly recommend this product!

  17. I highly recommend this product! My daughter continuously sucked her middle and ring finger…when she was bored, tired, sleeping, ALL the time. It only took 18 days to break the habit completely. It has been 3 months and she has never once reverted back to sucking her fingers. The product fit well and did not bother her at all.

  18. It worked! I used for both of my children and neither suck their fingers anymore!

  19. Brillant product, my 3 yr old was so pumped to earn stars each day!

  20. My daughter quit sooking her fingers with no issues at all using the tguard. Prior to this nothing was working.

  21. Our almost 3 year old daughter had a very strong finger sucking habit, to include it being her self settling method at night, and we weren’t sure if we would be able to break it. We had tried less intrusive methods, but nothing was working. Her dentist recommended the TGuard and it worked! The first few days were tough, but eventually it became part of the routine. It did take longer than the 30 days to break her habit, and was hard at times, but definitely worth it in the end.

  22. It worked so well. He quit sucking his fingers in a week.

  23. My son was 2 years 11 months when we started treatment. I was certain we were in it for the long haul, as he sucked his finger ALL the time. After over month of using Tguard, his oral fixation remained and he was chewing through the device. We decided to take it off, to see what would happen. And the habit was GONE. No more chewing things (I think the device was more just available to him at that point) and no more sucking his finger! We are now 3 months post treatment and all still seems to be well.
