Please note: Many children will switch from one thumb, to the other, after putting on the TGuard. For that reason, we recommend purchasing two treatment kits, one for each hand.
Sizing Chart
Sizing can be a tricky matter and it’s very important to get the right size in order to have a successful treatment. We recommend the table below for most children.

Typically, a child under 4 will choose small, a child ages 5-6 medium, and a child above 7 will choose large. However, the weight chart is the most accurate way to gauge sizing, and we recommend purchasing based off a child’s weight, rather than their age.
If your child is very close to the cut-off between sizes, then go with a smaller size if the child is taller, or a larger size if the child is shorter. The reason for that is because the only important parameter in sizing is the relation between the thumb width and the diameter of the tube. Taller children tend to have more narrow thumbs and fingers, so they should go down a size, while shorter children tend to have wider thumbs, meaning they should go up a size. The length of the thumb plays no role in sizing.
Please know that children under 3 are more likely to switch from thumb to finger sucking, or vice-versa, due to their habit not being fully matured. If you see that the child switches from thumb to finger sucking, please contact us.

Excellent product. My son sucked his thumb since birth . We were apprehensive about the T-Guard when purchasing, but it did not restrict him in anyway. He had completely stopped thumb sucking during the day within 30 days he continued to use it at night for an additional 30 day. I would highly recommend the T-Guard .
It did help some, our son was adopted and has sucked his thumb since we have known him at 3 months old. He is 4 now and chewed up the red piece on it and we ended up having to buy a new one. He chewed that one up too. The band that holds it on the hand ended up ripping through the guard in two spots because he pulled on it. Overall, I think it’s a great product but just didn’t work for our son and his situation.
It worked really well for my 7 year old. He easily got into the habit of wearing it and it didn’t interfere with his life or playtime in any way!

Nothing was working for my 3 yr old son. So I bought the tgaurds even tho they are expensive. They worked for about 2 weeks, until my little guy discovered he could bite the top of the guard and pull really hard to get it over the top of his thumb….essentially making this worthless. I spent close to 200$ CDN. So if you have a smart, determined thumb sucker…this probably won’t work for you either.
IT WORKS! My daughter sucked her thumb for 9 years. We tried so many different techniques, including (removable) cloth thumb guards that worked while wearing but there was no carry-over. We used the T-Guard exactly as prescribed (pretty much worn 24/7 except to wash it) and she no longer sucks her thumb AT ALL. I had very little confidence since it was such a strong habit that I purchased extra wrist bands because I assumed she would need to wear it longer than 1 month. But 1 month worked!

I can see how it would work really well, we just waited too long to break the habit and our 6yo daughter was able to break the strap to take it off. Ended up going back to nasty nail polish and old fashioned bribery.
Our 6 year old stopped sucking her thumb and is SO proud of herself! The product is so well made and kid-friendly and the accompanying materials were sooooo helpful with our journey! I’ll be purchasing smaller sizes next for her younger sisters and hopefully decreasing the future cost of braces for our family! Highly recommend.
This product was great! Our daughter eventually stopped sucking her thumb during any sleep time or times where she is tired and ready to rest. Those were the only times we needed it. She was good otherwise and didn’t need to have it on constantly. A few times in the beginning, she fought us, trying to take it off. Eventually, she understood why she had to stop and it became a routine for her. If I forgot to put it on, she would remind me about it and also remind me if she doesn’t use it, the consequences of not using it.
We did run out of the bands that it came with, since it took her about 45 days to get over it. Luckily we had a skinny velcro strap used for USB cables for computer organization. Definitely use the straps it comes with especially if your child is fighting to take it off. Know that your child may be able to slide their thumb out if they really pull on it. Nothing is perfect out there, and if tighten the strap too much, it can hurt the child. So bear with it for the first week and try find a way to encourage your child to use it. My daughter who is 4, was shown pictures of what could happen to her teeth if she didn’t use it. In a way it traumatized her just a little bit, but not in a bad way. She forgot all about it now. Besides that, we rewarded her with a sticker in the morning using the chart the product came with or a peice of chocolate in the morning after she eats her breakfast.
