Description

New and recommended! We are glad to present the newest version of our highly successful thumb sucking treatment kit: AeroThumb®! Based on the same principles as our TGuard® Classic, AeroThumb’s improved design offers an ergonomic fit that will fit on your child’s hand like a glove, helping you to stop the thumb sucking habit in a comfortable and effective way. Ventilating holes ensure cool air flow, which allows the device to be worn without any worry of condensation build up. More adjustment resolution means you can get a tighter, more precise fit.

In short, our new design is more comfortable, more ergonomic, and is far more effective than our 20 year old classic design.

If you are looking for a guaranteed way to stop thumb sucking in 4 weeks or less, without causing pain or discomfort, then look no further. Most parents see results after only ONE week of using AeroThumb®, making it one of the most recommended solutions to break the thumb sucking habit.

Kit Contents

Each treatment kit contains everything you need to stop the thumb sucking habit for one hand, within 30 days.

  • 1 Ambidextrous AeroThumb ® appliance (can be worn on either hand)
  • 30 bracelets: fun to wear, and multi-colored, so children can choose a new color every day!
  • 1 Instalock – makes the fitting process as easy as possible!
  • One set of instructions
  • Reward chart + stickers

Please note: Many children will switch from one thumb, to the other, after putting on the TGuard®. For that reason, we recommend purchasing two treatment kits, one for each hand.

Sizing Chart

Sizing can be a tricky matter and it’s very important to get the right size in order to have a successful treatment. We recommend the table below for most children.

Weight Under 40 lbs Between 40 and 70 lbs More than 70 lbs
Recommended Size Small Medium Large

Typically, a child 4 and under will be best suited with a small, a child ages 5-6 will best be suited with a medium, and a child aged 7 or order, will choose large. However, the weight chart is the most accurate way to gauge sizing, and we recommend purchasing based off a child’s weight, rather than their age.

If your child is very close to the cut-off between sizes, then go with a smaller size if the child is taller than the average for their age group, or a larger size if the child is shorter than average for their age group. The reason for that is because the only important parameter in sizing is the relation between the thumb width and the diameter of the tube. Taller children tend to have more narrow thumbs and fingers, so they should go down a size, while shorter children tend to have wider thumbs, meaning they should go up a size. The length of the thumb plays no role in sizing.

Please know that children under 3 are more likely to switch from thumb to finger sucking, or vice-versa, due to their habit not being fully matured. If you see that the child switches from thumb to finger sucking, please contact us.

My daughter sucked both thumbs 24/7 from 0-4 yrs old. Even in her sleep she always had one of her thumbs in her mouth. Nothing worked to stop her, it was her source of comfort. I kept this on 24/7 for a month straight (some kids need it longer) and in broke the habit. I had to get one for each thumb and buy extra wrist bands, but it was the best money I’ve ever spent. Her hands were a little sore at first as you have to keep it pretty fitted because they can and will get their thumb out if it’s loose, but I just put some bandaids along where the skin touched it and it was fine after a week. I hope one day it is covered by insurance since it is ADA approved. I showed her dentist and she had never heard of this device before. Her teeth were completely pushed out and moved back to normal in the span of a couple months. It will suck the first couple of days, they will cry and whine and be sad. Be strong, it is for the best for the future of their oral health.

  2. This worked great for my 7 year old. She kicked the habit after a month of wearing the thumbgard, with immediate success the first night.

I started the conversation before the kit arrived, and that got her excited and the seed was planted. I believe a combination of readiness on the child’s side and a very well thought-out kit created a useful solution. The bracelets were key to providing empowerment with her choice and customization. We didn’t pursue the star chart after initial few days, but it did help at first with the excitement and encouragement.

I chose the wrong size (large was too big), and t-guard swiftly sent the right size while allowing me to keep the large one. We started right away with the large one to harness the excitement of starting and then switched out to the right size when it arrived.

I thought the guard would be clunkier and more obtrusive but it honestly was no big deal and my daughter felt comfortable wearing it while sleeping and playing out with friends/camp.

great product, great service, and we are so proud of my daughter for overcoming this primal habit she’s known her entire life. super cool 🙂

The TGuard is a miracle worker. My daughter would suck her thumb consistently and with the TGuard she broke her habit in just a month! This is truly an incredible device

THIS WORKS! I was VERY skeptical about this working at first. My son is 6 years ago and has sucked his thumb his ENTIRE life. His skin on his thumb was so messed up from constantly being wet and bitten, and of course it was having a bad impact on his front teeth. We put the TGuard on him the first night before bed… he was sad about it but we told him it was to help him break the habit. With the TGuard on, he had no interest in putting his thumb in his mouth. I watched him the first night as he was falling asleep, and his body would instinctively move his thumb toward his mouth, but when he was met with the TGuard, he would reject the thumb. Long story short, after about 7 days he STOPPED instinctively putting his thumb toward his mouth. We still decided to keep it on the full 30 days, and after one full month we took it off. It has now been over 5 months since he wore the TGuard for a month, and HE HAS NEVER GONE BACK TO SUCKING HIS THUMB!! My wife and I were soooo excited and grateful for this product. We were highly skeptical at first, but IT WORKS!

I cannot rave enough about this product. My child was a diehard thumb sucker. We had tried everything. This solved the problem!!

  6. Yes it broke the habit after 4 years of thumb sucking!

We have tried every method– bribing, nail polish, calendars, etc. Nothing would work. The thumb guard truly did the trick. My son stopped around 3 weeks of wearing it and he was very motivated by the sticker chart that is included. He was so proud of himself (and so were we) when we took it off after 30 days and the habit was finally broken!!

Worked great! We followed the 40 ish day chart and my preschooler broke the habit.

Tguard worked great! I was skeptical at first, because I was afraid my 3 y.o. daughter would just go for her other fingers or her other thumb, but just correcting her a few times helped while she wore the Tguard 24/7. We kept it on for a whole month as suggested, and she really loved getting to put her sticker on the chart if she didn’t suck her thumb, or any finger for that matter, and didn’t try to take it off. Then we continued on to the next 10 days with the TGuard off, to basically see how she would do and was rewarded with a sticker for her chart if she didn’t suck her thumb. She understood the requirements.

We tried everything to get our 2 1/2 year old to stop sucking his thumb. He only did it when he was going to sleep or tired, but it was too much. We put a Tguard on both thumbs at naptime and bedtime, within a couple weeks he didn’t try to suck his thumbs anymore! The first few days were rough on him so he needed extra love. It’s been about six months without the Tguard and he has not gone back to the habit.
