Please note: Many children will switch from one thumb, to the other, after putting on the TGuard®. For that reason, we recommend purchasing two treatment kits, one for each hand.
Sizing Chart
Sizing can be a tricky matter and it’s very important to get the right size in order to have a successful treatment. We recommend the table below for most children.

Typically, a child under 4 will choose small, a child ages 5-6 medium, and a child above 7 will choose large. However, the weight chart is the most accurate way to gauge sizing, and we recommend purchasing based off a child’s weight, rather than their age.
If your child is very close to the cut-off between sizes, then go with a smaller size if the child is taller, or a larger size if the child is shorter. The reason for that is because the only important parameter in sizing is the relation between the thumb width and the diameter of the tube. Taller children tend to have more narrow thumbs and fingers, so they should go down a size, while shorter children tend to have wider thumbs, meaning they should go up a size. The length of the thumb plays no role in sizing.
Please know that children under 3 are more likely to switch from thumb to finger sucking, or vice-versa, due to their habit not being fully matured. If you see that the child switches from thumb to finger sucking, please contact us.

I rarely leave reviews, but I’m leaving a positive review on the TGuard in hopes it helps other parents. We used the TGuard for 30 days with my 5 year old in hopes to break the habit and it really worked for us! We tried positive reinforcement and natural oil nail polish first. The positive reinforcement helped some, but the nail polish did nothing. We were still struggling with our daughter sucking her thumb – at night or while watching TV or when we would read books. So we decided to try the TGuard at night only and if really helped! After 2 weeks she really seemed to not need her thumb anymore to help soothe her/fall asleep. We stopped using the TGuard after 4 weeks and I’m happy to say that 3 months later she still no longer sucks her thumb. We will be using for our 4 year old now and hoping for the same success!
This seemed to work for the first few days when we got it but my daughter ended up chewing on the device which eventually exposed the thumb again. So didn’t really work for us. Adjusting it was also a hustle.
My four year old was already able to go without the t-guard during the day within the first week of using this! I continued using it at night for the full month but she nailed it and I’m so thankful that we conquered her thumb-sucking when we did. It was easy, effective, and we looked forward to celebrating each evening with the star chart. I was very satisfied and can’t wait to share this achievement with our dentist next month!
Excellent product. My son sucked his thumb since birth . We were apprehensive about the T-Guard when purchasing, but it did not restrict him in anyway. He had completely stopped thumb sucking during the day within 30 days he continued to use it at night for an additional 30 day. I would highly recommend the T-Guard .
It did help some, our son was adopted and has sucked his thumb since we have known him at 3 months old. He is 4 now and chewed up the red piece on it and we ended up having to buy a new one. He chewed that one up too. The band that holds it on the hand ended up ripping through the guard in two spots because he pulled on it. Overall, I think it’s a great product but just didn’t work for our son and his situation.
It worked really well for my 7 year old. He easily got into the habit of wearing it and it didn’t interfere with his life or playtime in any way!

Nothing was working for my 3 yr old son. So I bought the tgaurds even tho they are expensive. They worked for about 2 weeks, until my little guy discovered he could bite the top of the guard and pull really hard to get it over the top of his thumb….essentially making this worthless. I spent close to 200$ CDN. So if you have a smart, determined thumb sucker…this probably won’t work for you either.
IT WORKS! My daughter sucked her thumb for 9 years. We tried so many different techniques, including (removable) cloth thumb guards that worked while wearing but there was no carry-over. We used the T-Guard exactly as prescribed (pretty much worn 24/7 except to wash it) and she no longer sucks her thumb AT ALL. I had very little confidence since it was such a strong habit that I purchased extra wrist bands because I assumed she would need to wear it longer than 1 month. But 1 month worked!
